Did you know that in Peru October is known as purple month?(in which everyone wears purple, obviously) Peru is in the continent South America and it has a population of 27,544,305 people. It is the 3rd largest country in South America located on the western coast. The land is mostly covered in mountains from the Andes Mountain range. The temperature is hot and dry in the North and cool and humid in the South. The people of this country mostly speak Spanish and Quechua. Their different hats represent what languages they speak. They live in apartments, made of brick. In Peru people eat things like chicken lamb, goat, pork, beef, fish, potatoes, rabbit, soup salad, bread, hot peppers, rice, quinoa, fruits and vegetables cocoa leaf, raw sugar cakes, onions, and they include guinea pig in many of their dishes.
In Peru there are two levels of schools, an elementary school and a high school. Elementary is kindergarten through 6th grade and high school is 7th grade through 11th grade. Each grade has a This network different colored smock as their uniform. Most children go to free public schools however the middle and upper class students go to private schools. After high school students can choose to go to university. There are about 30 National Universities. Most are small,poorly built and have the teachers are not the best. San Marcos University is the oldest and most prestigious college in Peru. It was built in 1551. There type of government is constitutional republic.
There are many natural resources in Peru. They have a lot of gold and other minerals. They also have a great deal of oil and natural gas. They have beef, chicken, eggs, grapes, asparagus, anchovies, sardines, squid, sugar cane. There manufactured goods are cement, fishmeal, motor vehicles, processed foods, paper products, textiles, refined metals, petroleum products, and chemicals. This country imports crude petroleum, food products, machinery, motor vehicles, plastics. They export clothing, copper, fish products, gold, petroleum products, zinc, bird dung for fertilizer.
The best known animals of Peru are the lama, puma, river dolphin, jaguar, sharks, crabs, lobster, whales, tuna, anchovies, birds, guinea pig. The birds are important because there poop can be used as fertilizer. The animals that still live in there natural habitat are the puma, jaguar, spectacled bear, river dolphins, and some birds. The animals on the endangered list are the spider monkeys which are endangered because of hunting and habitat loss.
