Did you know that Spain ruled Mexico for 300 years? Mexico became its own country in 1821. The country of Mexico is located in the continent of North America, just below the United States. The 2010 census reports 112,336,538 people living in Mexico. The capital is Mexico City. The people there belong to these ethnic groups: Mexican, Spanish and some slaves from Africa. They mainly speak Spanish in Mexico. Most people live in urban environments but 25% of the people live in rural environments. Some people live in small houses with mud/dirt floors. However, most people live in houses that are made of clay, brick, cement blocks, and stone and the roofs are flat. They like to eat some of my favorite foods like tortillas, tacos, flautas, burritos and enchiladas. There schools are just like U.S.A schools. They have an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school. The law requires students to go to school between the ages of 6 and 14.
The climate in the winter is mild with no frost. The climate in summer is long and hot. The physical description of Mexico is desert like with a nice coastline. It has 6 mainland regions. There manufactured goods are textile, electric parts, and automobile parts. Their natural resources are copper, petroleum, salt and silver. This country exports copper, gold, iron, fruits, and vegetables. The best known animals of this country are bats, opossum, donkey, ocelot, armadillo, tarantula, pig, dolphins, flamingos. The animals on the endangered list are salamanders, grey wolves, poison dart frogs. There type of government is federal just like the United States. They have a president that runs the country. Mexican villagers follow the older way of life. People there ware simple clothes like worn in the united states. They also ware leather sandals called huaraches and wide brimmed straw hats called sombrero. They also ware ponchos for when it is cold. The people in Mexico are very good at soccer, it is the most loved sport. They also enjoy boxing and bull fighting. I thought Mexico is a very interesting country and enjoyed learning about it.
